National Account Executive

Location: Home-based with regular travel to the office (Midlands-based) and customer meetings.

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum + Car Allowance + Benefits

About the Role

We are looking for a commercially minded and proactive National Account Executive to join a fast-paced FMCG business, one of the biggest players in the food market.

Working closely with the Sales Director and National Account Managers, you will play an important role in supporting the management of key retail accounts while progressively taking ownership of a portfolio of smaller customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within UK grocery and gain exposure to major retail customers.

The successful candidate will be analytical, organised and commercially aware, with previous experience within the FMCG food or drinks sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Sales Director and National Account Managers across key customer accounts.
  • Produce regular sales reports, commercial analysis and performance insights to support business decisions.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of Joint Business Plans.
  • Coordinate promotional activity, pricing updates and customer administration.
  • Maintain accurate customer price files and retailer portals.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain, Marketing and Finance teams to ensure excellent customer service and efficient execution of customer plans.
  • Support demand forecasting and sales planning activities.
  • Prepare data and insights for customer presentations and category reviews.
  • Attend customer meetings, record actions and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Monitor sales performance and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Support the delivery of commercial objectives across the customer portfolio.

Skills & Experience

  • 1–3 years’ experience within an FMCG food or drinks business.
  • Exposure to UK grocery retailers and the commercial sales environment, this is a must!
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence communicating with customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience using retailer portals and customer systems.
  • Experience supporting Joint Business Planning.
  • Knowledge of forecasting and promotional planning.
  • Experience working with sales reporting tools and commercial data.
  • Degree educated or equivalent.
  • Italian speaking
