This job contributes to the success of the company by supporting Italian Tax research, projects, planning and operational activities to minimize overall Tax risks and enhances Tax compliance. Will be a key part of a regional tax a team that processes and reports on Tax transactions.

Key Job Dimensions & Scope of Role

  • This partner will initially be full-time dedicated to supporting tax reporting and tax accounting for the Italian market, working with local and regional stakeholders (including accountants) to minimize tax risks, as per the company tax strategy
  • Has demonstrated enthusiasm for working with ERP systems (Oracle) and has an interest in helping develop automated solutions for tax compliance
  • Develops and documents tax policies; supports audits and transparently responds to authorities’ queries
  • Uses a keen sense of cultural differences within the EMEA region to develop internal and external business relationships, with a goal to represent the tax team in internal business decisions
  • Ensures that expected results are delivered on time and within budget
  • Travel may be required depending on business need
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Italian

  • Drive efficiencies and best practice and ensures that compliance processes are documented, kept up to date and communicated stakeholders.
  • Prepares, communicates and educates stakeholder groups and team on changes in tax policies and tax practices that have an effect on the organization.

  • Responds to questions about business transactions from business units or departments. Provides guidance on tax planning and compliance.
  • Identifies and evaluates tax planning opportunities and assists with planning and research projects. Support tax implementations of supporting software.
  • Conducts and reports on internal Tax risk assessments/audits
  • Provides guidance tax team and stakeholders on compliance issues and resolution.
  • Reviews reconciliations and working papers supporting tax filings. Provides information and assistance to various reporting teams, outside auditors or tax authorities personnel.
  • Supports tax audits. May also administer internal and external audits. Interacts with auditors, and manages the audit information request process.
  • Manages working relationships with external service providers, customers and authorities in multiple jurisdictions
  • Prepares and submits VAT returns, EC sales listings, and Income tax filings where required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 4-6 years Italian Tax compliance experience in industry or Big 4 accounting firm, including
  • 3-5 years’ experience advising on interpreting and implementing Italian Tax policies and processes in a growth environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Proven track record of managing Italian Tax audits
  • Communicate clearly, both written and orally in both English and Italian
  • Collaborate with, educate, and influence team members, and stakeholders
  • Independently balances deadlines and multiple priorities to accomplish goals
  • Team management, or project lead experience and skills
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
  • Advanced social skills and building relationships; Highly collaborative in the EMEA tax team and cross functionally in the business.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Sensitive to areas and transactions with the potential of increased tax and business risk.
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Advanced skills in using business intelligence and reporting tools, and Microsoft office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, SharePoint and Power Pivot.
  • Executive presence and ability to represent the Company in dealings with Government Agencies.
  • Skilled in understanding accounting systems and processes.
  • Working knowledge of internal controls.
  • Displays initiative, and ability to identify, implement and document process improvements to enhance clarity and efficiency, and to keep pace with changes in the business and Tax requirements.
