Cost Accountant (Manufacturing experience)

Job Title: Cost Accountant – ACCA/ACA Qualified or Partly Qualified.

Location: Central London

Salary: c. £40.000 (depending on experience and negotiable).

Our client, an established brand distributing their product on an international scale, is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant. You will be in charge of maintaining a high level of financial control and provide accurate information on cost and production process performance. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the manufacturing operation as well as the continuous improvement of financial operations in the group as a member of the Finance Team.

More specifically, you will coordinate and control Supply Chain purchases, manage and control product costing, provide cost of sales and margin analysis, co-ordinate stock control and reconcile to accounting records, assist in financial controlling activities.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation of statutory financial statements and Group reporting.
  • Draft management report regarding margins
  • Reconciliation of sub-ledger with general ledger related to inventory.
  • Support to Supervisor with the preparation of budget & forecast data relative to the margin costs of company.
  • Co-ordinate full physical inventory counts.
  • Preparation of P&L to gross margin as basis for Supervisor to finalise Month End reporting to Group.
  • Preparation of excel schemes for adjustments of records.
  • Verification of stock accruals based on contracts, purchase offers and data of approved budget.
  • Verification of inventory valuation and validation of stock movements.
  • Monitoring & control of sub-ledgers for inventories.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts during closing process.
  • Review of stock analysis and inventory adjustments.
  • Update standard costs relative to new purchase prices
  • Booking of invoices for component and conversion cost purchases.
  • Product costing & customer margin analysis.
  • Review of stock analysis and inventory adjustments.
  • Manufacturing Cost analysis
  • Cash flow forecasting

Key requirements:

  • You will be an advanced Excel user
  • You will demonstrate clear experience and an understanding of management accounts and product costing.
  • You will need good knowledge of the principles of standard costing together with experience in the use of an ERP based financial system.
  • You will be qualified or partly qualified ACCA / ACA.
  • Experience with NAVISION / MICROSOFT DINAMICS would be highly advantageous.
  • Additional European languages e.g. Italian are advantageous.
