Job Description: Head of Tax & Treasury

Location: Milan – Italy – onsite, 5 days a week – 9AM to 5.30PM

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Salary: Quadro contract, generous salary package & commissions + ticket restaurant.

Our client is an established international ship broker group. With HQ in London, the team has recently opened up a new branch in Milan (share service centre) and we are looking for a Head of Tax & Treasury to join the team. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate to lead the financial operations to new heights. The right candidate will have more or less 10 years’ experience in the industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • 70% treasury 30% tax
  • Provide strategic tax advice to support business growth and M&A activity.
  • Oversee tax compliance across the group, mitigating risks and ensuring accuracy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Drive tax efficiency initiatives and leverage technology to optimize processes.
  • Cash flow forecast / relationships with banks / preparation of treasury report for the Group

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a strategic and commercially minded tax and treasury leader ideally with:

  • Qualified Accountant with tax experience – fiscal experience is a must
  • Experience in tax consultancy roles (private practice or big4) is desirable
  • Strong understanding of tax implications of complex business structures.
  • Experience in managing tax risks and compliance in a global organization.
  • Significant experience in dealing with tax authorities and advisors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A pro-active individual who enjoys working collaboratively as a team.
  • Treasury experience is desirable – if you don’t have experience in Treasury but there is a strong interested in developing new skills, please apply (as long as you have tax experience).
